CONSOUL – VIDEO GAME MUSIC BIG BAND

I never expected anyone to have to play it!

Grant Kirkhope, Video Game Music Composer (DK64, Banjo Tooie, and more)

ConSoul is a video game music big band based in NYC that recently won a G.A.N.G. award

Since 2015, the band has performed all around NYC at venues like Subrosa, New Blue, Sunnyvale, and Williamsburg Music Center as well as at MAGfest (Maryland), the Long Island Expo, and (school name) (Lancaster, PA). The band has shared the stage with Kris Maddigan (composer of Cuphead) and individually worked with the likes of Kanye West, Jay Z and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

Consoul brings a fresh and fun new take on video game music playing favorites such at the Super Mario Bro’s theme, megalovania, Dragonborn, Tetris, Sonic, and many other fan favorite tunes. Video games have been around for more than 45 years – the music is loved and enjoyed by audiences of all ages!

Danny Flam is a former Israel Philharmonic trombone player who moved to NYC and quickly became a prominent performer and brass recording artist, recording with Kanye West, Jay Z and many more first tier artists, and is featured on multi-platinum and Grammy winning productions.

Grammy award winner and and Latin Grammy Nominated Vibist/Percussionist & Composer Felipe Fournier was born in the Central American country of Costa Rica. He Graduated from the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory, in Jazz and Caribbean Music. He is based in New York City since 2013.

With an intense classical background and session/touring career spanning more than fifteen years, Mitch Friedman is a Grammy Award winning bassist, musical director, and producer, living in NYC. performing across four continents on some of the world’s most prestigious stages.

Originally from Israel – where Gal Gershovsky played with leading artists. Since moving to to New York, Gal has been a corner stone drummer for many local bands and a leading recording drummer in the New York-area.

In early 2015 Mitch, Felipe, Gal and Danny (Who also happen to be avid gamers too), were on a gig break, when they started imagining what would Glen Miller, Duke Ellington and other classic big band era greats be playing (pun intended) if they lived today. Thus ConSoul was born.

God this was a treat to see live. I caught them rehearsing earlier in the day and I was seriously over the moon hearing the Cuphead soundtrack in person. Also that mallet duel was one of the coolest things I’ve seen at MAG to date!
